About

Dr. Sotomayor Schmid has worked on complex policy issues in both the public and private sectors. Her experience in legislative and regulatory analysis includes working with large public and private organizations in the fields of regulatory compliance, government relations, and risk management. Dr. Schmid’s interest in collaborative governance has inspired her work with community-based outreach strategies. She has worked on a variety of projects in the Southern California region which have required public/private/non-profit partnerships to achieve program goals by using targeted outreach strategies. Some of the projects that she has worked on include: Riverside County’s Homeless Awareness Program, Los Angeles Universal Preschool’s Parental Participation Program, San Bernardino’s Registrar of Voters Absentee Voter Participation Program, the City of Santa Monica’s Water Conservation Outreach Program, and San Diego County’s West Nile Prevention Program. Due to her interest in mixed-methods research and program accountability, she uses both qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis.
