About

Dr. Chuyang Yang is an assistant professor in the Daytona Beach School of Graduate Studies. Dr. Yang holds a Ph.D. in Technology and an M.S. in Aviation and Aerospace Management from Purdue University. In 2020, he was one of the twelve recipients of the Graduate Research Award from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Transportation Research Board’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP). Dr. Yang specializes in data-driven solutions to enhance general aviation safety, accessibility, and sustainability, focusing on traditional aircraft and uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). His expertise lies in traditional statistical methods, interdisciplinary mixed study design, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing to better understand and improve national airspace system safety and efficiency. From 2022 to 2024, Dr. Yang was an assistant professor and program coordinator of the Aviation Management Technology Program at the Eastern Michigan University School of Technology and Professional Services Management. He co-founded the Center of Autonomous Machine Computing and Cybersecurity (CAMC2)) at EMU. Despite only two years as a tenure-track faculty member at Eastern Michigan University, Dr. Yang led the successful Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) accreditation of EMU Aviation Programs and has been recognized as Ronald W. Collins Distinguished Faculty (the most prestigious award at Eastern Michigan University). With over 20 publications in journals and conferences, Dr. Yang is widely recognized for his valuable contributions to interdisciplinary design methodologies, aviation data analysis, and related subjects.
