About

Dr. David P. Harvie joined the ERAU Worldwide campus of the Department of Graduate Studies in the College of Aeronautics as an Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity in August 2020. He came with 9+ years of academic experience and 24+ years of leadership and professional experience in the United States Army. Dr. Harvie earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Kansas, a M.S. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy. Dr. Harvie served in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the United States Military Academy for 8 years teaching information technology, cybersecurity, user interface, and senior design capstone courses. He holds a GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification, and he is a member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). In his professional experience, Dr. Harvie served as a field artillery officer in various staff and leadership positions in the 82nd Airborne Division, 3rd Infantry Division, and United States Military Academy. Dr. Harvie’s service included an operational deployment to Kosovo and two combat deployments to Iraq. He lives in Johnson City, Tennessee, with his wife, Stephanie, daughter, Paula Beth, and son, Stephen.
