About

Dr. Lulu Sun is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Fundamentals at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, FL, where she has been teaching for 17 years. Her courses coverengineering fundamentals, including Introduction to Programming, Graphical Communication, Introduction to Engineering, and Spatial Visualization. She previously taught Thermodynamics. Dr. Sun earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Riverside in 2006. Before joining ERAU, she worked as a fire engineer for Arup in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Sun focuses particularly on educational innovation to improve the learning experience of STEM students. Sheencourages an entrepreneurial mindset to foster innovation and creativity in her gamified flipped classroom. Dr. Sun has served as the founding faculty advisor for the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) at ERAU, a volunteer member on the University Ad Hoc Committee on DEI, and the webmaster of the Commission of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusions (CDEI) at American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). She is a member of the ASEE, a professional member of the Society ofFire Protection Engineers, and a member of the Air Traffic Control Association. Dr. Sun haspublished over 50 journal and conference articles, and her papers were awarded the Chair's Awardand two Media Showcase Awards within the ASEE Engineering Design Graphics Division (EDGD) in the past. Since 2015, she has held various positions within the ASEE EDGD, including Director ofCommunications, Vice Chair.
