About

Dr. Rob Eicher is an Associate Professor of Meteorology and Manager of the Weather Lab in the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. Dr. Eicher holds an M.S. in Meteorology from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Strategic Communication from the University of Central Florida. Prior to his academic career, he worked for over two decades as a broadcast meteorologist for local television stations in several markets including WHDH in Boston, WJZY in Charlotte, and WOFL in Orlando among others. Dr. Eicher’s research interests are a mixture of his physical and social science backgrounds and focus on examining weather, climate, and risk messaging. Throughout his career, Dr. Eicher has been very active with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). He previously served as Chair of the AMS Board on Broadcast Meteorology, Chair of the AMS Board on Best Practices, and has planned several national conferences for the organization. Dr. Eicher is one of only a few dozen people to have earned both the Certified Consulting Meteorologist and Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designations from the AMS. He also holds the National Weather Association's Television Seal of Approval and a remote pilot (part 107) certification.
