About
Sandra Boetcher obtained her B.M.E., M.S., and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 2001, 2003, and 2006, respectively. Prior to her appointment at Embry‑Riddle, Professor Boetcher was a founding faculty member in the newly formed Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the University of North Texas and worked for a number of companies including Honeywell, 3M, and Donaldson Company. She has served as an associate or guess editor for a number of journals including ASME Journal of Thermal Science and Applications, ASME Journal of Fluids Engineering, Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetery, and Journal of Thermal Science. She is active in the ASME Heat Transfer Division and has served as committee chair for K-10 Heat Transfer Equipment and K-19 Environmental Heat Transfer. Professor Boetcher also served as the technical program chair for the 2019 Summer Heat Transfer Conference. Recently, she was appointed to the Heat Transfer Division Executive Commitee. Her research and teaching interests include phase-change materials and additive manufacturing, thermal behavior of supercritical carbon dioxide, thermal extraction of carbon dioxide from the environment, natural convection, computational fluid mechanics, and energy-related fields.
