Editorial: Selected Papers from the Air Transport Research Society World Conference, Bergamo (Italy) and World Conference on Transport Research , Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), 2013

The Air Transport Research Society (ATRS), a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS), held its 17th World Conference on 26–29 June, 2013 in Bergamo, Italy. The ATRS also organized several sessions devoted to air transport topics at the 13th WCTR Conference in Rio de Janeiro in July 2013. Taking both events into consideration, some 300 papers were presented by authors representing 37 countries. We, the guest editors, have the pleasure of introducing six of those papers for inclusion in this special issue. We believe that they provide a glimpse into breadth of topics presented and discussed at the two conferences and provide valuable additions to the literature on air transport.
