Abstract

The number of hand-held devices has exploded in the last five years. They all use small-screen interfaces and the amount of information that can be displayed is very small. Small displays cause more scrolling, tabbing, and paging to retrieve successive displays of information which limits the usefulness of these devices. One solution to increase usefulness is Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP). This process allows for the presentation of text in a small area with little or no degradation of reading performance.
