Abstract

Work in organizations today has been moving from the autonomous worker to various team based structures. Given that the product of work is no longer dependent on just one individual, methods have begun to emerge regarding the role of the performance unit (e.g., individual, dyad [sub-team], whole team) and the type of interactions required (process vs. outcome). Depending on the purpose of measurement (describe, evaluate, or diagnose behavior), tradeoffs can be made relative to the importance of these dimensions.
