Abstract

This chapter examines the role of a humanistic supervisor in protecting
employees’ dignity. It highlights the managerial implications for humanistic
supervision and outlines the best practices within the tourism industry. A
humanistic tourism supervisor is sociable, community-aware, and well informed
about promoting holistic human well-being. This chapter outlines
two case studies, which are examples of successful humanistic management
within the tourism industry in Florence (Italy) and Singapore.
This case study's novelty incorporates the richness of images and
informal chats with local residents to better understand the challenges of
humanistic management in the tourism industry – an insightful approach to
extending humanistic management in practice ideas.
