Abstract

[This chapter will] attempt to answer a rather simple question about the individual performance of members of a work team / what variables affect the performance of an individual team member and why do these variables have these effects focus on some of the mediational or underlying mechanisms which are believed to be responsible for improvements or declines in the performance of an individual team member / begins with a very brief history of research on individual performance in the presence of others; then it presents the specific phenomena of interest and discusses the mechanisms that may be responsible for each of them / an integrated overview is presented of how these psychological variables affect individual performance in a team context.--PsycInfo database
